  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon tallow or turkey bacon grease
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder (optional)
  • kosher salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Cook the turkey bacon until crispy and set aside.
  2. Preheat a Dutch oven over medium-high heat; add tallow or turkey bacon grease.
  3. Sear the sirloin for 2-3 minutes per side until browned; remove and set aside.
  4. Brown the ground beef for about 15 minutes, breaking it up as it cooks.
  5. Return seared sirloin to the pot, add beef broth, and stir well.
  6. Bring to a boil then reduce heat to simmer uncovered for about 30 minutes.
  7. Stir in crumbled turkey bacon before serving.
