  • 2 pounds Yukon gold potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a baking dish with unsalted butter.
  2. In a saucepan over medium heat, combine heavy cream, whole milk, minced garlic, salt, black pepper, and nutmeg. Heat until warm but not boiling.
  3. Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the greased baking dish and pour half of the cream mixture over them.
  4. Sprinkle half of the cheddar and Parmesan cheeses on top. Repeat layering with remaining ingredients.
  5. Dot the top with butter and cover with foil. Bake for 40 minutes.
  6. Remove foil and bake for an additional 20 minutes until golden brown and bubbly.
  7. Allow to cool slightly before serving.
