Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 lbs (900 grams) sweet apples (Gala, Fuji, or McIntosh)
  • 10 cups water
  • 2 Tbsp (25 grams) brown sugar
  • 4-inch piece (55 grams) fresh ginger
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 2 tsp black peppercorns

Instructions

  1. Wash and quarter the apples, leaving skin on for added nutrients.
  2. In an Instant Pot, combine apples, sliced ginger, brown sugar, cinnamon sticks, black peppercorns, and water. Cook on high pressure for 18 minutes and manually release steam.
  3. If using a stock pot, bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat, then simmer for about 30 minutes until apples are soft.
  4. Strain through a fine mesh sieve into a pitcher or jar to remove solids.
  5. Allow tea to cool completely before storing in an airtight container.
