  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons instant yeast
  • 1 1/4 teaspoons kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
  • 3/4 cup whole milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1/2 cup canned pumpkin
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened and cubed
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • 2 packages pumpkin spice cream cheese spread for filling
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar, sifted
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
  • 1/8 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons pumpkin pie spice

Instructions

  1. In a stand mixer, combine flours, sugar, yeast, salt, and pumpkin pie spice.
  2. Mix milk, eggs, pumpkin, and vanilla in another bowl. Gradually add to dry ingredients in the mixer.
  3. Add softened butter and knead until smooth; let the dough rise until doubled (1-2 hours).
  4. Roll out and cut doughnuts; fry in hot oil until golden brown.
  5. Fill with cream cheese spread and dust with sugar mixed with pumpkin pie spice before serving.
