  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened (optional for glaze)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (optional for glaze)
  • 23 tbsp milk or heavy cream (optional for glaze)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract (optional for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 325°F (163°C) and grease a 12-cup bundt pan.
  2. In a large bowl, cream softened butter and granulated sugar until fluffy (about 5-6 minutes).
  3. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then blend in vanilla and vinegar.
  4. In another bowl, sift together cake flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Mix buttermilk with red food coloring in a separate container until combined.
  6. Gradually add dry ingredients and colored buttermilk to the batter, alternating between them, and mix until just incorporated.
  7. Pour batter into the prepared pan and bake for 75-85 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  8. Let cool for 15 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
  9. For the optional glaze, beat softened cream cheese with powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth; drizzle over cooled cake.
